The Medicine Hat Firefighters Charitable Foundation funds one $2,000 scholarship a year for a future firefighter. You have to live in Medicine Hat, Redcliff or Cypress County and be accepted into an accredited fire service program, or have finished one within the past 365 days. The application asks for three professional references, proof of enrolment, grades, a statement of purpose, a statement of financial need, and your extracurriculars.

The 2026 round ran May 1 to July 31, 2026 and has closed. The Foundation has not posted 2027 dates, so no deadline is shown here rather than a guessed one. It also says that if no applicant meets the criteria the scholarship is not awarded that year. This is not a general local bursary: without a fire service program acceptance you are not eligible.
