ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP

Two awards of $2,500 from FIRST Robotics Canada for students who competed on a FIRST team and are heading into a skilled trade or apprenticeship rather than a degree.

Aimed squarely at the robotics student who is going into the trades rather than engineering, which most STEM awards quietly exclude. You must have competed on a FIRST Robotics Competition or FIRST Tech Challenge team. Two awards of $2,500, not renewable. The package is a form, a recommendation letter from a high school instructor whose class you actually took, an official high school transcript, and a 500-word essay on your FIRST participation and why you want a trade. Home-schooled applicants should contact the FIRST scholarship committee for substitutes for the letter and transcript. The money is not paid to you: after winning you send FIRST Canada a letter naming the college programme, and it must arrive by the end of the second week of classes. The 2026 deadline was March 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Verified against firstroboticscanada.org on 2026-09-08.
