Worth knowing

One application covers the whole slate. CNIB says submitting it automatically considers you for any scholarship you are eligible for. Graduating high school students can apply, using interim proof of secondary completion. You need best-corrected visual acuity of 20/70 or worse or a visual field of 20 degrees or narrower, and must be a Canadian citizen or have held landed immigrant status for at least a year. Eligible programs include diplomas, degrees, skilled trades certificates and apprenticeships. The 2026/27 cycle has closed, and CNIB's page says applications for 2027/28 open in spring 2027. Questions go to scholarships@cnib.ca. Permanent residents must have held landed immigrant status for at least one year before applying. Apprenticeship only one eligible option. Applicants must be blind, deafblind or have low vision, with best corrected visual acuity of 20/70 or worse or a visual field of 20 degrees or narrower.
