ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP
The United Steelworkers awards 22 scholarships of $1,500 each year to members and children of members who are heading into post-secondary education.
Open to a USW member or the child of a member in good standing who is 25 or younger. The application is a form plus either a three-minute video or a 250-word written statement, in English or French, on one of four set topics. The 22 awards are split across USW Districts 3, 5 and 6 and the national locals; District 3 covers Western Canada including Alberta. You cannot win more than twice. The 2026 cycle closed June 30, 2026 and the date has held to June 30 in recent years, but confirm on the USW page before relying on it. Verified against usw.ca on 2026-09-08.
