Navy League of Canada Maritime Affairs Scholarship

One $3,000 scholarship a year, formally the Honourable Rear-Admiral Fred Mifflin Memorial Scholarship, for an active sea cadet entering an accredited post-secondary program in the maritime sector.

One award a year, so the field is small but so is the pool. You must be an active sea cadet and your program has to sit within the maritime sector, which is the binding constraint for a landlocked Alberta applicant: marine engineering, naval architecture, oceanography, marine biology and the like all count, a general science degree does not. Apply on form NL_LN_55, and attach every supporting document, because the Navy League discards incomplete applications rather than following up. The Navy League also points sea cadets at the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Education Foundation, which funds separate awards of $1,000 to $5,000, and at a $5,000 Young Citizens Foundation award given to a top sea cadet entering first year.
