Worth knowing
There are two streams, a Children's Scholarship and a Spousal Scholarship aimed at professional retraining. The children’s scholarship provides up to $10,000 annually based on need, with part-time study prorated, and no fixed spousal amount is stated. Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year were being accepted as of 2026-09-08, with forms downloadable from the site and returned by mail or to info@herofund.ca. Reach them at 1-888-602-3071. Overlaps in purpose with the Canada Company Children of the Fallen Scholarship, also listed here. They are separate charities with separate applications, so apply to both rather than picking one. It funds tuition and on-campus board and lodging at an accredited Canadian institution or prescribed foreign university. Applicants must not have remarried, must have been married to or living common-law with the member for the year before death, must apply within two years of the death, and must take at least five credits per term with a 50% annual average.
