Jim Cellars Memorial Welding Scholarship

A $1,000 award for a grade 12 Chestermere High student who has shown outstanding skill in Fabrication, named for Jim Cellars, a welder his family describe as an artist, inventor and engineer who taught the trade to many. Three things gate it: all three of FAB10, FAB20 and FAB30, proof you have applied to or enrolled in a post-secondary welding program, and a 150-word letter on why you are a strong candidate and how the money advances your career. The letter has to carry your social insurance number, so write it somewhere you can keep private.

The school published a dated June 17, 2026 deadline for the last round and picks a new date each year, so there is no repeating date to carry and you should ask Mr. Dennis for this year's. Step one is a conversation rather than a form: you meet Mr. Dennis and Mr. Wiens first to check you are a strong candidate, then submit the letter. Expect an interview with Brian Cellars, and expect to attend the awards night in the fall, since he presents it in person.
