Laurence Decore Awards for Student Leadership

Worth knowing

Your institution nominates you and holds a limited number of these, so the competition is inside your own school, not the province. The government warns that a student-facing deadline can fall months before the school's own submission date, so ask in September, not in spring. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons. Applicants qualify as Alberta residents through a parent or guardian who lived permanently in Canada for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before their studies and now lives in Alberta, through their own last 12 consecutive months of residence immediately before study being in Alberta, or through a spouse or partner’s 12 consecutive months of Alberta residence before their studies. You must study at an eligible publicly funded Alberta institution. Applicants must meet their institution’s definition of satisfactory academic standing.
