Worth knowing
There is no application. The scholarship committee selects the winner. If the top student also wins a local award over $1,000, this passes to the next highest average instead, so a strong second place is in play. A tie splits the money. Unless an award states otherwise, applicants must be Canadian citizens and have lived in Alberta for at least one year. Applicants must graduate from a public high school in Okotoks. A recipient of another local scholarship over $1,000 normally passes this award to the next eligible student, unless no other student reaches an 80% average.
About this scholarship
For the graduate with the highest average across English 30-1 or 30-2, Social Studies 30 and French 30, at 80 per cent or better, who is enrolled in a full year university schedule. School-based grade 12 marks are what count.
