Worth knowing

Established by the Stampede City Progress Club for Bill Gibson, its longest serving member. You must go straight from Grade 12 into first year: a gap year disqualifies you, and the program has to be a full-time undergraduate degree at a Calgary institution. Selection weighs leadership in Calgary communities alongside financial need. The value has moved between cycles, listed at $10,000 in an earlier year and at $7,500 renewable for three years on the most recent Calgary Board of Education listing, so confirm the figure with the Calgary Foundation. The provider had not posted a date for the new cycle when this was checked, so this is last cycle's deadline rolled forward.

$7,500 for a Grade 12 student graduating from a Calgary public or Catholic school and entering first year of a full-time undergraduate degree at a Calgary post-secondary institution, renewable for up to three years.
