Worth knowing
The handbook states that academics are considered secondary to volunteer work, which puts six $1,000 awards within reach of a student whose transcript is ordinary. Holy Trinity Academy students apply too, by emailing the lodge a short essay on where they volunteered, and preference goes to anyone who has volunteered with the Elks themselves. Unless an award states otherwise, applicants must be Canadian citizens and have lived in Alberta for at least one year.
About this scholarship
The Okotoks Elks Lodge funds six awards of $1,000 for graduating students attending post-secondary in the year of graduation, selected mainly on volunteer work that has enhanced the community.
