Cypress County Scholarship

MEDICINE HAT · VERIFIED AUG 2026
WHO CAN APPLY
Cypress County residents in high school who are starting post-secondary

Cypress County Council awards two $1,000 scholarships a year to high school students from the County who are heading to post-secondary, with preference given to those entering a technical program. You need to be registered to start your first year, and the application wants a letter setting out your goals, your transcripts, and your letter of acceptance. A council committee picks the winners on citizenship and community involvement as well as marks.

This is the County Council award, which is separate from the Agricultural Service Board bursary that closes on the same date. You can be a candidate for both. What decides it is residency, not which school you attend: the terms of reference say applicants living in the County but attending high school in Medicine Hat, Brooks, Foremost or Bow Island are eligible, and so are students in the Crown Village of Ralston and the Townsite of Elkwater. You can only win it once. The application form is on the County's online registrations page, under Scholarship Application.
