Worth knowing
The family connection reaches further than most veteran awards, as far as great-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. The catch is age. The auxiliary states this is not intended for mature students over twenty. It is a separate award from the auxiliary's main command bursaries, so you can be considered for both. Applicants must have attended Wetaskiwin Composite, Pigeon Lake High School or a Maskwacis high school for at least one year. Applicants must begin their first post-secondary term in Alberta or the Northwest Territories in the year they leave or graduate from high school. Children and grandchildren of Auxiliary or Branch members may also apply.
About this scholarship
The Ladies’ Auxiliary to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 86 in Wetaskiwin offers the $500 Constance Gower’s Memorial Bursary for eligible students entering post-secondary study, and the application sets out the family and service connections.
