Fort McMurray graduates entering equine and animal science fields

ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP

One award of $500 from the Clearwater Horse Club for a grade 12 student eligible for a high school diploma. Equine studies come first, then animal science, veterinary and agriculture, and finally any Alberta post-secondary programme at all. Recipients are scored on a four point scale and ties are settled by drawing names.

The scoring is published in full: one point for an Alberta programme, two for involvement with 4-H or riding clubs or personal riding experience, one for a 70 per cent average. Riding experience is worth twice what your marks are. The third tier opens it to any student in any Alberta programme, so it is worth applying even with no horse in your life. A short essay and proof of acceptance are required, and the winner writes back to the club after first term.

HOW TO APPLY

1 Talk to your school guidance counsellor about this award.

2 Ask about internal school deadlines, which can be earlier than the listed one.

3 Submit your application through your school before April 30, 2027.
