Northern Alberta Rural Physicians Fund
One or more awards totalling up to $10,000 a year from the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation for medical students accepted at or enrolled in a Canadian medical school who intend to practise in rural northern Alberta at or north of the 54th parallel. Applicants must have attended high school in an Alberta community at or north of that line, and sign a return of service agreement on completion.
The eligibility line is drawn on a map: you had to attend high school in an Alberta community at or north of the 54th parallel, which takes in Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level, Fort McMurray and Grande Cache. Worth flagging in Grade 12 even though you cannot apply yet, because it is a reason to keep your northern high school records handy years later.
