Memorial Ribbon Scholarship

Pays up to 80 per cent of tuition and books for up to four years, to a total of $50,000, for the children of Canadian police and peace officers slain in the line of duty.

By total value this is the largest award listed on this site. It covers up to but no more than 80 per cent of tuition and books per year, for no more than four years, capped at $50,000 overall, and it pays for tuition and textbooks only, toward an undergraduate degree or diploma at an approved Canadian post-secondary institution. Any child of a Canadian police or peace officer slain in the line of duty may apply, including a child born outside marriage and an adopted child. Applicants must be between 18 and 26 at the time of applying, though the Society will consider a first-time applicant over 27 case by case, and it also considers support for elementary, middle and high school costs on the same basis. You need evidence of the parent's line-of-duty death; the governing definition sits in the Society's by-laws. Run by the Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Ribbon Society.
