It covers up to but no more than 80 per cent of tuition and books per year, for no more than four years, capped at $50,000 overall, and it pays for tuition and textbooks only, toward an undergraduate degree or diploma at an approved Canadian post-secondary institution. Any child of a Canadian police or peace officer slain in the line of duty may apply, including a child born outside marriage and an adopted child. Applicants must be between 18 and 26 at the time of applying, though the Society will consider a first-time applicant over 27 case by case, and it also considers support for elementary, middle and high school costs on the same basis. You need evidence of the parent's line-of-duty death, and the governing definition sits in the Society's by-laws. Run by the Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Ribbon Society. No deadline is published, so contact the Scholarship Advisory Council rather than waiting for a date to appear. Applicants are normally aged 18 to 26, but first-time applicants over 27 may be considered individually. Applicants must be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree or diploma and must not already hold a bachelor’s degree.
