Medicine Hat High School Graduation Awards

Medicine Hat High School runs a donor-funded awards programme for its graduates, recognising academic achievement and contribution to the school and community. The school publishes no list of the individual awards or their values, so this one entry stands for the whole programme.

Two things decide whether you are considered. The awards information form arrives inside the grad registration package in April and has to be back by May 15, and the package itself is only released to students whose school and grad fees are paid, so an unpaid balance quietly removes you from the whole awards programme. The school also states that it spreads recognition as widely as it can and that a grad is unlikely to receive more than one major award, so winning early does not stack. Cords and the valedictorian title are recognition rather than money.
