Kids Cancer Care Derek Wandzura Memorial Scholarship
Awards vary each year but start at $2,500, with more available where cancer has caused extenuating circumstances. It is for a childhood cancer patient or survivor diagnosed at age 18 or younger who lives in southern Alberta and is enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate.
Because it covers any year of study, a student entering first year straight from Grade 12 can apply. Southern Alberta here means Red Deer and everything east, west and south of it. You cannot hold this and the Kids with Cancer Society Bursary, which is the northern Alberta equivalent. The provider had not posted a date for the new cycle when this was checked in August 2026, so this is last cycle's deadline rolled forward. Confirm before you plan around it.
