Worth knowing
The value is $500, and $1,000 may be awarded in cases of financial need. Selection is automatic: the CBE Science Specialist and your principal pick recipients based on qualification to the Canadian national team, so the way in is to qualify. You must contact EducationMatters for an access code before the online form will open. Open to CBE high and junior high schools where applicable. No fixed deadline is published.
How the EducationMatters application works
One EducationMatters application covers every CBE and Calgary Catholic award. It opens March 1, and most awards close May 30, a few May 1. Every one has three rules: you must be 20 or younger on September 1, not yet in post-secondary, and applying in your Grade 12 year. Once you leave high school you can no longer apply, so a gap year is fine only if you applied before you graduated.
116 awards listed here go through it.
