Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarships

Horatio Alger Canada funds students who have come through real adversity. There are 160 awards of $10,000, and you apply in Grade 11, not Grade 12.

The Grade 11 timing is the trap that costs Alberta students this award: the window is January 1 to March 31 of your Grade 11 year, for study beginning after you graduate. Household net income must be $80,000 or less and you need a 70 percent average. Horatio Alger Canada runs several programs off related applications, so check the others before you settle on this one: the National Entrepreneurial Scholarships pay $25,000, and the Indigenous Achievement Scholarships take Grade 12 applicants.
