Greg Sylvester Memorial Scholarship
Funded by the estate of Gregory Garth Sylvester and paid in two halves, $500 in September and $500 in February on continued registration. The requirement is unusually specific: acceptance into Bishop's or Queen's University with history as a major area of study, plus a year at a Black Gold high school including grade twelve. The application is a letter of recommendation from a teacher or principal and a short account of why you are pursuing history. The deadline is July 15 of any year after you finish grade 12, so a student who switches into history later can still apply.
Black Gold's own division-managed scholarship summary is where the criteria and the date come from, and the date it gives is a bare day with no year, so it repeats. The summary was last updated in April 2025, so confirm the amount with the division before counting on it.
