Constable David Wynn Memorial Award
Named for the RCMP constable killed in St. Albert in 2015, and written around what he believed: that every young person deserves a leg up and deserves recognition for service. It asks for a 65% average, a record of volunteer or leadership service in school, community or international programs, and two letters of reference to back that record up. The fields named are police work, EMT, paramedic, law, military, forensic science and medicine, including nursing, pharmacy and lab tech, though the wording is deliberately not limited to them. Consideration is given to students from financially challenged families. It is offered at Bellerose, Paul Kane, St. Albert Catholic, Outreach and St. Gabriel, which is the widest reach of any award on this list.
The foundation writes the criteria but does not collect the application; your high school counsellor does, and each school sets its own cutoff. The date shown is the earliest of the ones published, so treat it as the safe one to work back from.
