CIM Taking Flight Grants
Seven grants of $5,000 from the CIM Foundation for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students pursuing a career in mining, and one of the few national awards that takes high school applicants outright.
Formally the Brian and Harold Keevil Endowment Taking Flight Grants. Seven grants of $5,000 a year, open to Indigenous students in high school as well as post-secondary, from across Canada, studying at a Canadian school toward a career in mineral extraction or processing. Recipients are judged on community involvement and demonstrated commitment to the mining industry. The CIM Foundation's wider scholarship list is otherwise almost entirely undergraduate and graduate, so this grant is the door in for a Grade 12 student. The deadline is October 30 and a 2026 submission form is posted, so this one is live and close: confirm with the CIM Foundation before counting on the date. Recipients are announced by December 31.
