Alberta Junior Athletic Award
Who can apply: Alberta residents on a designated junior sport team, enrolled full-time at an Alberta post-secondary institution for both fall and winter terms
How you apply: You can't apply yourself. Someone nominates you, so tell them you want to be considered.
Amount and deadline
Date confirmed on the provider's page, Oct 2026.
Worth knowing
Your team coach nominates you, you do not apply on your own, so the person to talk to is the coach and not a guidance counsellor. Coaches submit nominations to Alberta Student Aid by January 15 and pick their nominees on academic standing, community involvement and athletic achievement, so ask your coach for their own internal deadline because it falls earlier. You send the coach a current official transcript and an essay on your extracurriculars and goals. Seventy awards are shared out each year: 30 through Alberta Junior Football, 30 through the Prairie Baseball Academy and 10 through the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society.
