Alberta Blue Cross Away From Home Entrance Award

One award of $1,000 for a new full-time student entering directly from high school with an average of 80 per cent across English 30 and four other 30-level courses, whose hometown is at least 100 kilometres from Grande Prairie and who either relocates or commutes regularly to attend.

This is the award for Peace-country students from outside the city, and commuting counts as well as moving. Note the specific mark rule: English 30 plus four other 30-level courses, not an overall average. Northwestern Polytechnic's standard award criteria require two full semesters already completed at NWP, which shuts most of its 359 awards to a student coming straight out of grade 12.
