A hundred and fifty of these exist and there is no year-of-study bar, so a first-year student qualifies. The province does not run the intake. Mount Royal's awards office does, and it sets the deadline. Full-time here means at least 60% of a course load in both fall and winter, or 40% for a student with a disability. Lifetime maximum of two. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons. Applicants qualify as Alberta residents through a parent or guardian who lived permanently in Canada for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before their studies and now lives in Alberta, through their own last 12 consecutive months of residence immediately before study being in Alberta, or through a spouse or partner’s 12 consecutive months of Alberta residence before their studies. Applicants must take at least 60% of a full course load in both fall and winter, or 40% if they have a disability.

The province pays $10,000 to students entering aviation and pilot training at Mount Royal, aimed at Alberta's pilot shortage.
