Worth knowing
Explicitly open to students 'enrolled in or awaiting acceptance from' a Canadian university, college or trade school, so a Grade 12 student who has applied but not yet heard back can still enter. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with a diagnosis of Crohn's or colitis, and there is no age limit. The package is heavier than most, with an online application, a proof-of-diagnosis form signed by your healthcare provider, a consent form, two recommendation letters and a 500-word essay on wellness, academic goals and community involvement. Judged by a committee of gastroenterologists, community partners and patient representatives. The 2026 deadline was June 15 at 11:59 p.m. local time. A widely syndicated press release said June 1, but Crohn's and Colitis Canada's own page says June 15. Applicants must have a health professional’s diagnosis of Crohn’s disease or colitis. Previous recipients and AbbVie or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada employees and their immediate families do not qualify.
