Violet King Scholarship
CALGARY
WHO CAN APPLY
Black students at Calgary Board of Education schools
ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP
Named for Alberta’s first Black female lawyer, this Local 38 award recognises a Black student of outstanding merit within the Calgary Board of Education.
Violet King graduated from Calgary’s Crescent Heights and became the first Black woman called to the bar in Canada, in Alberta in 1954. All four Local 38 awards share one closing date at the end of May and one portal, so a single trip through the site covers whichever of them you qualify for.
HOW TO APPLY
1 Read the full requirements on the official website.
2 Prepare your documents and any references it asks for.
3 Submit through the official website before May 31, 2027.
