UNA Nursing Education Scholarship

Sixteen awards of $1,500 for students starting a nursing program in Alberta who are related to a United Nurses of Alberta member in good standing.

This is a relative-of-a-member award, which is the kind almost nobody thinks to check. If a parent, grandparent or guardian is a United Nurses of Alberta member or associate member in good standing, you are eligible and most of the field is not. It is for first-year Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse programs only, so it is an entrance award, and it explicitly excludes postgraduate study. Up to fifteen are awarded plus one funded by the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, the essay is a single 300-word answer, and the money is paid the following January once you show proof of full-time first-year registration.
