Parkland School Division Citizenship Scholarship
Ten $500 scholarships across Parkland School Division, and the criteria are worth reading closely because two of them work backwards from what you would expect. The weighted average in all grade 12 courses has to sit between 70 and 79.5%, so a strong transcript rules you out, and you must not have received any other major school-based award or scholarship. Add good citizenship, participation in the local and school communities, an attendance rate above 80%, and enrolment at a post-secondary institution. It is written for the solid middle of the class, which is exactly where scholarship money is usually thinnest.
This one is offered at both Parkland high schools, and each collects it its own way: Spruce Grove Composite through its April awards package, Memorial Composite in the spring of Semester 2. Neither publishes a fixed calendar date that repeats, so ask your own Student Services.
