Otipemisiwak Métis Government Community-Based Awards

Nine named awards from the Otipemisiwak Métis Government worth $500 to $2,500, covering trades, justice, music and sport as well as any area of study, all through a single application.

One Google form puts you in for nine named awards at once, so read the list and say which ones fit you. Bruce Gladue, Cecil Bellrose and Marlene Lanz are the three Otipemisiwak Legacy Awards at $2,500. Art L'Hirondelle at $1,000 is for construction and trades, Tom Ghostkeeper at $1,000 is for justice studies, and Gary Pruden at $500 is for music and sports. Delia Gray, Pearl Calahasen and Ernest Poitras are $1,000 and open to any area of study. You need proof of current post-secondary registration, a personal statement about your involvement in the Otipemisiwak Métis community, and a reference letter from a Métis knowledge keeper, leader or active citizen. That registration requirement means you apply in the fall after you start, not while you are still in grade 12. Winners are honoured during Métis Week in November.
