Worth knowing
There are two sets of guidelines under one name. The first is the merit stream, which asks for an 80% average across five 5-credit grade 12 courses, or 75% for a student with an Alberta Education identified learning need. The second is for students with developmental disabilities entering a vocational program, and it is judged on its own terms. A retired or deceased member still counts as a member. Local 38 runs its awards through a members-only portal, so the opening date is not published anywhere public. All four of its awards share the end-of-May closing date and one application site.
About this scholarship
The main award from the union representing Calgary public school teachers, open to the child, stepchild or ward of a current, retired or deceased Local 38 member. The applicant must be a Grade 12 graduate of a public, separate or francophone school, and attendance at a CBE school is not required.
