John Laurie Scholarship

The Calgary Public Teachers award for an Indigenous student of outstanding merit in the Calgary Board of Education, funded by the union rather than by the district.

One award a year, so the field is the whole public board rather than your school. John Laurie taught at Calgary’s Crescent Heights and spent much of his life working alongside Treaty 7 leaders, which is why his name sits on the union’s Indigenous award. The amount is only published in the portal during the application window.
