Worth knowing

Hand the division's application form to your principal by June 15 of your graduating year, and the principal sends it on to the Superintendent's office. You must be accepted into a Bachelor of Education or an equivalent program and show a strong academic record plus school or community leadership. The application includes a 500 to 750 word essay on why you want to teach, how you support your peers and a time you put someone else's learning first. If two applicants are equally qualified, the award is split into two of $750.

Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools awards $1,500 a year from its CASS President's Legacy trust to a division graduate heading into a degree in education.
