Worth knowing
Four awards, and volunteer coaches and officials count the same as athletes, so a Grade 12 student who referees or coaches a younger division can apply on that alone. Clubs are limited to one applicant per deadline, so ask early rather than assuming your club has a spot. As with the other City award, you have to apply before the event happens.
About this scholarship
Up to four scholarships of $1,200 a year from the City of Grande Prairie for individuals pursuing excellence in their sport. Individual athletes, volunteer coaches and sport officials may all apply, and the application asks for a goal statement with performance history, letters of support from a coach or mentor, and confirmation of national sport association membership.
