Big Lakes County Return of Service Bursary
Big Lakes County pays $3,500 a year, matched by another $3,500 from the provincial Northern Alberta Development Bursary, for up to two years to two students entering a one- or two-year program or the last two years of a degree. Larger streams exist for medicine, dentistry, nurse practitioner, pharmacy and large-animal vet students.
In return you must work full-time in your field in Big Lakes County or northern Alberta for one year per year of funding. You must be 18 or older, live in the county (towns included), have lived in Alberta for 12 months and have applied to a provincially funded program. Apply January 2 to April 30 and reapply each year. A $750 trades stream has no matching money.
