WHO CAN APPLY
Canadian citizens or permanent residents aged 16 to 18 who are leaders in their community. Students are sponsored by a local Rotary club rather than applying centrally, so start with the Rotary club in your own town.
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Running since 1951, this brings over 150 senior high school students from across Canada to Ottawa for four days. The program normally includes a presentation by the Speaker of the House of Commons and a visit to the Chamber, a special sitting of a Citizenship Court, meetings with political leaders and senior officials, and a visit to the Canadian War Museum. Alumni include Adrienne Clarkson, Joe Clark and Ed Broadbent. Participants may also apply for three $1,000 post-secondary scholarships from the Young Citizens Foundation. The 2026 intake has closed, so ask your local Rotary club about 2027.
