WHO CAN APPLY
Any Alberta youth aged 15 to 21. No school nomination and no debate experience required. The parliament is non-denominational and open to members of any belief system.
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
The longest continuously operating youth parliament in Canada, formed in 1920 and still sitting inside the Alberta Legislature between December 26 and 31. Members write their own resolutions and debate them under Westminster rules, with a government side, an opposition and a Speaker moderating. Strong practice for parliamentary procedure, impromptu speaking and public policy. Now known as the Alberta Youth Parliament. The website was still being rebuilt in August 2026, so watch abyp.ca for the next session dates.
