Worth knowing
The fund is built a dollar at a time. Every provincial championship charges each competing student an extra loonie and sends it to the office. Applications are judged by your own zone rather than provincially, by a panel of at least three teachers or zone executives. Volunteering in the community counts equally with volunteering at school, which matters if your school had no opening.
About this scholarship
Also known as the John Paton award, this goes to a graduating student who gave time back as a coach, an official, a team manager, a statistician or a scorekeeper.
