Gillis Purcell Memorial Journalism Scholarship
Who can apply: Indigenous students in journalism or working on a campus news outlet
Amount and deadline
Date confirmed on the provider's page, Oct 2026.
Worth knowing
You must already be attending a Canadian college or university, so a Grade 12 graduate applies in the fall of first year. A journalism program counts, and so does work on a campus newspaper or broadcast station. French and English speakers can both apply. Recipients may be offered temporary work at The Canadian Press.
About this scholarship
The Canadian Press gives $4,000 each year to a First Nations, Métis or Inuit student studying journalism or active in campus news.
