Alex Decoteau Award of Honour
Named for the Olympic runner who became Canada’s first Indigenous police officer, this award supports returning soldiers and their families through post-secondary study in Alberta.
Up to two hundred of these are available, which is a large field for a $5,000 award, and there is no year-of-study bar. The service test is specific: the member must have served in a designated military operation, or have been permanently disabled through Armed Forces training. A journeyperson certificate counts as an academic credential here alongside degrees and diplomas. Lifetime maximum of two.
